We at Magic believe in letting kids be kids at our after school care programmes. They have just been learning all day and we believe they need time to relax (if they would like) with refreshments, partake in more active play oustside with friends, or partake in some indoor activities. We let children more often do what they would like to be doing - letting them have time to use their imagination. We do ask them to do one thing though, their homework! 

We believe your child/ren needs to feel welcome each day. That is why we strive to create an environment that is fun & friendly and most importantly a place where your child feels appreciated and safe. We believe we have the right balance at after school care between; homework time, special arts and craft activities, and general play with their friends.

Lastly, we believe after school care is a great environment for your child to build on their socialising skills. Older children will be encouraged to help the younger children, building responsibility and self esteem in the process, while the younger children will grow from having positive role models to support them and build confidence. Added to this, the benefits of our arts/ sports/ and challenge programme will ensure your child/ren builds skills for life.

We now have two specialty Supervisors to add a special spark to the programmes. Arts and Challenge activities will be supplied on some weeks to the programmes.    

Magic Kiwis at After School Care

Magic Kiwis is activity based programme that runs in conjunction with all of our after school care programmes. The programme aims to provide additional activities and experiences for children while keeping the balance between active time and letting kids be kids. The programme will run for six weeks in the middle of the term. The more "Magic Kiwis" activities your children participate in the higher level of "kiwi" they will obtain. Let me explain. If children partake in an activity then they will be awarded a gold star. This will be placed on their own personalised Magic Kiwis page which will be kept at the centre so the children can view their Magic Kiwi's progress. Children can obtain "Have a Go", "High Achiever" or "Elite Kiwi" status over the term. At the end of the term children will be awarded a certificate or badge for the rank they obtain. There will also be special badges for oustanding achievement in the different fields.

The aim of the programme is to get the children to explore different activities, possibly outside their normal comfort zone. It is hoped that in future, when your child contemplates partaking in a new activity in their life, they will be better equipped to give things a go.

We also believe that the children will build self esteem by the reward system. They don’t have to be the best of an activity to get a reward, but if they are, then this will be recognised too.
