Magic Kiwis is an activity based programme that runs in conjunction with all of our after school care programmes. The programme aims to provide additional activities and experiences for the children while keeping the balance between active time and letting kids be kids. The programme will run for six weeks in the middle of each term. The more “Magic Kiwis” activities your children participate in the higher level of “Kiwi” they will obtain.

Let me explain. If children partake in an activity then they will be awarded a star. This will be placed on their own personalised Magic Kiwis page which will be kept at the centre so the children can view their Magic Kiwi progress. Children can obtain “Have a Go”, “High Achiever” or “Elite Kiwi” status over the term. At the end of the term children will be awarded a certificate for the rank they obtain. Elite Kiwis will receive a badge . There will also be special badges for outstanding achievement in different fields.

The aim of the programme is to get the children to explore different activities, possibly outside their normal comfort zone. It is hoped that in future, when your child contemplates partaking in a new activity in their life, they will be better equipped to give things a go.

We also hope that the children will build on their self esteem by the reward system. They don’t have to be the best of an activity to get a reward, but if they are, then this will be recognised too.
